Interview: Gospel Recording Artist Reggie Campbell

In life there is always going to be someone you have a lot in common with. Maybe it might be the kids, spiritual experiences, loss of a job, death of a spouse, prophetic call, ministry, or homelessness. For me, I found Reggie and I to have a lot of common ground, but I would have never guessed it by looking at the joy of the Lord on his face. His prophetic songs are so powerful that you can feel the presence of God!

Reggie has a new single "It Was Your Love" that was written as a great inspiration. "I was going through a lot", said Reggie. He remembered walking through a door, sitting at the piano and starting to pray; the prayer had turned into a song and he transferred the song to paper. Amazingly, Reggie wrote "It Was Your Love" in 8 minutes, confirming that it was GOD working through him.

Reggie released his solo project "I've Got Joy" nationally, titling the CD after a rough time in his life. He was married with 3 children and his wife was diagnosed with Lupus. She died and left Reggie with 3 children to raise by himself, whom are young adults now. It was at that time Reggie said, "God, through all that I’ve experienced, I still have joy. Every time I sing the song I think about my mom because it was my mom’s favorite song". The song was supposed to be a movie track, a lady paid a large amount of money for it and it was enough to pay for bills.

Reggie wrote and sang, and it came through his loss of employment after 20 years of service. "Some people say I am a good person, but it is not about that, it is about what God wants to do in your life". He knew God was going to do something, so he said, “I am so full” and that meant he had to give birth. Reggie has a heart to help people, and he is putting together a 12-city tour for California. Reggie Campbell's music is played on over 200 radio stations, played and besides being an indie artist himself is continually being a blessing to other indie artist. He assist them to get their music on radio stations.

He released his solo project nationally, which is currently playing on radio stations across the USA. "I was depressed and oppressed and "I've Got Joy” helped me”, said Reggie. His song “Love Lifted Me” was written from a testimony. He recalled a young rapper that was going through stuff and was in Reggie’s studio, while listening to “I’ve Got Joy” the rapper said, only God could have made something so beautiful. Reggie continues to walk in joy even though he may be hurting inside.

Reggie grew up in Tyler, TX. When he was around 2 or 3 years old, he would travel with his mom and during their travel Reggie would sing on the bus. People said, he can sing, and they would give him money to buy a McDonald’s happy meal or popsicles. Seeing that Reggie had a gift to sing, his mom bought him a little piano and he would play and sing "The Lord Will Make A Way, Yes He Will", but Reggie couldn't pro-nonce yes, ha ha! Reggie's grandmother had a piano and he would listen to music and play the note on her piano. "I had an ear for music”, said Reggie.

Reggie Campbell's challenging work and practice paid off when he started playing for a choir. He didn't know how to read music and didn't want to learn either. He would find the note on the piano and put a chord to it. He has written all the songs on his CD. "The wind is the breath of God, the trees and sun are His, and I see and hear a song from all these things", said Reggie. He felt that the trees must be watered, they have deep roots and we have deep roots, too. We are like the trees and we need to be watered. Seeing nature inspires Reggie to write about it. Reggie works in the prophetic worship and all of his music is prophetic.

Reggie is a National Gospel Recording Artist, song writer, keyboardist, choir director, worship leader and minister. His ministry is led by the Holy Spirit through praise and worship, words of knowledge, wisdom, and prophetic speaking. Among Reggie’s many talents, he was also an All-Region All State football player.

Reggie loves to work with upcoming gospel recording artist to get their CD on the market. He talks to the youth about how to get the CD out, work with a publishing company, learn to listen to their music to adjust and get the CD ready for the radio, how to recover royalty and learn about CCLI.

Reggie has frequently appeared on TBN and gets royalties when they replay a broadcast with him singing. He is a wise business man when it comes to writing and producing music. Reggie wanted to leave the upcoming recording artist with this advice, "write the vision, pray over it, wait on God and He will give you small things to do that will move you forward. If you feel God has called you, you can't sleep, and he touches your spirit, those are the people I am talking to because some people can sing and just want to be heard. Second, get with someone that's on the road and learn from them. I have what I call “big brothers” to call on and ask questions".

Reggie has been blessed to minister in churches nationally and internationally. He has ministered at Salem Bible Church (Rev. Jasper Williams). Furthermore, he can be regularly seen on the Trinity Broadcast Network as a featured guest artist and respected Psalmist.

Reggie Campbell is on the board of Fresh Fire Record and Publishing, owned by Cheryl Lundberg.

Reggie, I for one am very proud of you and I bless God for the gifting He has awarded you to prophetically sing. I have replayed your music over and over because it is that good!! The anointing on you is very high and I recognize the glory of God over you and the music. I am honored to have been graced with meeting you and writing an article about you. Keep up the awesome work for the kingdom!
