Article: The Creme of the Crop, International Award Winning Recording Artist Nikki Berry

I was thanking God and remembering all the blessings he has giving me and the people he has blessed me with and I immediately thought of a woman that is like a sunshine every time I see her. Last year, I attending her concert and it was one of the best gospel concerts I had ever attended.

Poised, elegant, gracious, integrity, honest, servant, prayer warrior, beautiful, stunning, powerful and full of life! There are so many more accolades to describe God's queen and rising gospel star, Nikki Berry, but my favorite is "Sunshine". My first introduction to Nikki Berry and that sunshine smile was at the Black Girl Excellence Awards. Nikki and I hit it off right away. When I looked at Nikki, sitting so poised in a long silver formal gown, I thought she was a television star and a basketball players wife. Nikki had this presence of wealth and success written all over her. After the award show, we all mingled and networked. I made it my purpose to find out who was this Hollywood wife? Well, I soon found out she wasn't a TV star or basketball players wife, but she is a successful engineer and runs her own finance company, and during the Black Girl Excellence Award, Nikki's name was called to come to receive an award for her finance company.

Nikki and I merged a friendship immediately as if we had known each other for years! She invited me to come to her CD release to promote my magazine, media coverage and I wrote an article about the event. Nikki's CD release was very classy and elegant. Her friends and family were very warm loving people, and her parents were like the mom and dad of us all!

Here we were around a year later, and Nikki was releasing her second CD, and yours truly was there to do media coverage. When I walked in, the red carpet and back drop were set up as if a Hollywood star was arriving. The room was beautiful and her volunteers were so professional. Nikki blew everyone's mind with her own candy bar! Yes, a Nikki Berry Hersey chocolate candy bar! I was wowed at the candy bar, but I was even more taken by the baked potato in a champagne glass, and the appetizers were yummy!

The CD release concert took place at the Buffalo Soldiers Museum in Houston, Texas. The event opened with a mixer from 6 pm - 7 pm. During the 6 o'clock hour we ate, network, picked up pre-orders and waited for the big moment. It was 7 pm and out of nowhere we heard Nikki over the mic, but no one knew where she was, finally she said, I am up here! Nikki stood above us on a crosswalk that was extremely high, but it was the best "wow" grand entry. She proceeded down the stairway in a dark silvery gray dress that sparkled. Nikki wore that dress like a fashion model on the runway and she "bamed" us all!

Nikki was escorted to the stage by her husband Derick Berry, a very loving supportive man of God. I especially loved watching him watch his wife...he looked so in love.

Nikki was stunning and her $5 dollar CD release was a $50 concert! Nikki gave one of the best performances I had ever seen from a indie gospel artist. I have heard some great artist, but this concert just took it to a whole level higher! Nikki ministered her music, preached a sermon and shared her testimony.

The highlight of the night was when Nikki called to the stage the other award-winning indie artists, like the double award-winning gospel artist Reggie Campbell and gospel artist Kimberly Braggs. Clareta Haddon-Jackson and her mom were in the audience and that was a wow moment! The turn out was great, the house was full and people were on their feet praising, clapping, singing and dancing. Nikki knew how to move the crowd and minister to their needs...wow!

Nikki Berry, you are a great gift to this world and keep doing what you are doing, lives are being changed, captives are being freed and the love of God is abounding much in your heart to ours. The light of heaven shines off of you my dear, and don't let nothing take away that fire "Sunshine". Amen
